Papillary microabscesses

Papillary Microabscesses

Collections of neutrophils occupying the dermal papillae usually indicate dermatitis herpetiformis. The diagnosis can be confirmed by immunofluorescence studies.

However a list of other disorders can give similar features. Some are other immunobullous disorders such as Linear IgA disease, cicatricial pemphigoid, EBA,  and Pemphigoid gestationis but here the cells found are eosinophils.

Other disorders to consider are Bullous lupus, some Drugs, Acute generalised exanthematous pustulosis and some neutrophilic dermatoses.
