Chunks of Coal Sign
Where there are large atypical lymphocytes in the dermis such as in Lymphomatoid papulosis the a scanning view may suggest this clue in the dermis. Atypical Fibroxanthomas can give a similar scanning view picture with the large atypical nuclei seen in that condition. Animal type melanomas may also look as if they show this sign but the cell of origin is different.
